Management

On behalf of his organisation, Christophe Leroux from CEA LIST assumes responsibility for overall coordination activities. The previous responsible was Jean-Marc Alexandre now Head  of Robotics Unit at CEA LIST)

Christophe Leroux obtained a Ph.D in 1990 from Paris VI University (University Pierre et Marie Curie) on object recognition from 3D images applied to robotics. He has been involved in hazardous environment applications in robotics and is now focused on assistive robotics for people loosing their autonomy (quadriplegic, elderly people) through project national projects AVISO, ITEA ANSO and ITEA MIDAS. He has been responsible for the conception of photogrametric software PYRAMIDE and Graphic supervisions software MAGRITTE. He is at the moment project research manager.  

The coordinator is assisted in this management task by work-package leaders and by a Steering Committee, which is empowered to make high-level decisions on every aspect of the project. The Consortium Agreement will describe the organizational structure and the rights and duties of the operational bodies responsible for the decision-making


Steering Commitee

The Steering Committee (strategic level) created at the beginning of the project is composed of one senior representative from each partner organization, and chaired by the project coordinator. All members have many years of experience in technology development and participation in previous Commission funded programs. The Steering Committee members are chosen among those persons involved in the technical tasks of the project to ensure a high level of commitment; for meetings dedicated to specific topics, specialists will be invited.
The role of the SC is to make high-level decision concerning every aspect of the project life:

- The technical re-orientations proposed by the participants redefining deliverables if necessary as the project advances.
- The allocation of funds (received and distributed by the Coordinator)
- IPR, dissemination and exploitation issues
- possible changes in the consortium
- resolutions of conflicts on technical, financial and strategic issues
- Election of the Knowledge Manager, etc...

The Steering Committee meets at least twice a year on an ordinary basis. Extraordinary meetings can be called for, should need arise.

Work Package Coordination Committee

Technical meeting - operational level

These committees are managed by the WP leaders. Part of their work is coordination with other work-packages in the project. Their role includes:
task supervision, schedule, management of events and budget of the WP. It also responsible for informing the steering committee and the other WP coordination committee with a project Progress Status Report once a month. The Progress Status Report should inlude items like results obtained and problems encountered, work scheduled, decision and questions.

For each work-package, a Work-package Leader is nominated. His/her tasks is:

- To control the progress of the scheduled work within the work-package in terms of technical achievement, planned deliverables and expenses.
- To collect the information (technical, programmatic) needed to prepare periodic progress reports and to transmit them to the project coordinator,
- To transmit information from the project coordinator to the partners involved in the work package,
- To manage topic ground meetings, and to report to the project coordinator on all matters related to the topic (planning, costs).

To allow a fluid upstream and downstream exchange of information, regular contact are kept between project coordinator and WP leaders.
